How a custom piece is made
From a client's phone photograph to an installed piece, the eleven weeks in between.
Amina Tarimo, 2 April 2026

Most bespoke commissions start with something imprecise: a photograph, a sketch on a napkin, a piece of furniture the client already owns and wants a version of. The job of the first two weeks is to turn that into a drawing everyone can sign.
Drawing and prototype
We produce general arrangement drawings and, for anything we will make more than four of, a full prototype. Prototypes are cheaper than a production run built on an assumption.
A prototype is the cheapest argument you will ever have with a drawing.
Bench work
Machining is done to a jig; joints are cut and fitted by hand. Upholstery and finishing happen in separate, dust controlled areas of the workshop.
